When using your Shot Scope device in GPS + Track or Track mode, every swing is recorded — including practice swings. However, once your round is complete, our advanced algorithms automatically analyse the data to determine which swings were actual shots and which were simply practice movements.

The exact method we use is proprietary, but rest assured — the system is highly accurate at filtering out practice swings from your round data.

Why Take Practice Swings?

We actually encourage golfers to take at least one or two practice swings before each shot. Not only does this support good course routine and shot preparation, but it also helps the system more clearly distinguish your real shots from practice motions.
