What Should I Do If My Putter Tag Doesn’t Fit in a Counterbalance Grip?
Shot Scope tags are designed to screw securely into the end of a standard golf grip. However, counterbalance or weighted putter grips often contain added material or internal weights that block the tag from being inserted properly.
Your Options If You Use a Counterbalance Putter
If your putter tag won’t fit, don’t worry — there are a few simple alternatives to ensure you still capture accurate putting data:
1. Modify the Tag and Attach Manually
- Carefully cut off the screw from the bottom of the tag.
- Tape or glue the flat base of the tag to the top of your putter grip.
- Make sure it’s secure so it remains in place during use.
2. Use Manual Putt Mode
- Enable Manual Putt Mode in your Shot Scope settings.
- Tap the watch button once before each putt to record it.
- This option still tracks putting performance without needing a physical tag.
3. Use PinCollect Without a Putter Tag
- Simply use PinCollect at the hole to track your putts.
- The system will count the number of putts taken, even without detecting a putter tag.
- You can then edit the putt locations manually in post-round editing to ensure accuracy.
